Learning Support

Learning Support

Our aim at College is for all learners with additional support needs to have equal access to the curriculum and work towards meeting their full potential. The need for additional learning support may arise from a learning difficulty and/or disability.
A referral to discuss potential additional support can be made through: school referral,
initial assessment, during interview, enrolments/admissions and induction, self-referral, PLA or Learning Coach, tutor referral, parental referral or professional referral.
Referrals can happen at any point during the academic year.
We have a dedicated and highly-qualified Learning Support team, , with experience and knowledge of a range of learning difficulties and/or disabilities who will identify and arrange the necessary support to enable you to achieve your individual learning goals.
If you have an EHCP or have had support previously, then the information we have gathered is used to create a learner profile and support plan, highlighting support needs and any teaching or support strategies that need to be put in place.
All information is treated sensitively and confidentially and no information is passed to staff without your consent.

Within learning support we have a variety of specialist support areas that include

Autistic spectrum conditions, Specific learning difficulties – dyslexia/dyspraxia
Speech and language difficulties, Behaviour for learning (ADHD/ADD/BESD),
Visual impairment, Hearing impairment, Severe and complex learning difficulties,
Mobility Difficulties and Mental Health.

Dyslexia and exam access arrangements.

This can include small class size, class support, and discreet 1:1 or small group support.
